Councils ban cage eggs

It began with Cessnock and Newcastle in November 2010, and now a growing number of number of local NSW Councils have placed a ban on caged eggs. When we first heard this we imagined they were issuing on the spot fines over your breakfast table. What it boils down to is simply that these councils are no longer using products that contain caged eggs. It's perhaps more evidence of an increasing awareness of animal welfare and food production. What do you think of the move?

Absolutely brilliant. All councils should do the same. And ban caged eggs in all restaurants, cafes etc.

Hello Ecoeggs,

Can you tell me how I can get more of those delightful postcards "Just want what's best for my Eggs!"?

I'd like to spread them around....Cheers, Wendy

Thanks Wendy, it was a short promotion we ran earlier in the April to help make people aware of our recently launched ChookCam. Fortunately for us, everyone loved them. Unfortunately for you, they were all used up :-) We might run something similar again in the future, so keep your eye out.

Loving the site and especially chookcam - in an increasingly crowded marketplace it is nice to see some differentiation and proof of what you are buying - well done

Fantastic - here's hoping more follow. How anyone can choose cage eggs over free range just to save a few cents is beyond me :(
