Sunday, April 3, 2011 New initiatives to further improve egg quality
Rowly Horn
Last week I made my regular check of our farms and each of the flocks. Egg production has improved since the dreadful hot weather we experienced during the summer. It was unusually hot for the district compared to previous years.
We have been approached by the University of New England to cooperate in an egg quality study, including the shell and internal egg quality. I took the first samples from our Booral farm, which will then be monitored every 10 weeks throughout production. This should assist us in making further improvements to our egg quality. I’m looking forward to the ongoing results which I will post here when available.
